Der passendere Titel für dieses Video wäre wohl eher “Durch die Nacht mit Invader”. Wie auch immer, du kannst in diesem 13 Minuten langen Filmchen meinem Lieblings-Street-Artist (Space) Invader bei seiner Arbeit im nächtlichen Paris wortwörtlich über die Schulter sehen.

Egyptian graffiti artists arranged a No Walls protests last Friday (March 9, 2012), where they painted the walls away into stunning murals to commemorate the dead and protest the obstacles built by painting eye-deceiving, virtual continuations to the blocked streets (Trompe-l’œil). Almost every wall around the area was painted on by young artists who joined hands and brushes for over 3 days, turning the area into a lasting memorial.

„1UP“ gibt es nur nachts, tagsüber sind die Mitglieder der Crew Bäcker, Kameramänner, angehende Lehrer. Etwa zehn Männer und drei Frauen sind sie, alle zwischen 20 und 30 Jahre alt. Keine mit Butterfly-Messern in der Jeanstasche, keine, die Omas überfallen. „Wir machen positives Zeug“, sagt Tim. Es ist Ansichtssache. Es gibt Videos, da stürmen sieben von ihnen einen U-Bahnhof in Zehlendorf, mit ihren schwarzen Masken sehen sie aus wie ein Terrorkommando. Sie ziehen die Notbremse, damit der Zugführer eine Zwangspause einlegen muss. Innerhalb der nächsten zwei, drei Minuten sprühen die Maskierten literweise Farbe an die U-Bahn. Die Fahrgäste können nur apathisch zugucken, wie die Fensterscheiben vor ihren Augen blind werden. Es ist gespenstisch. Als der Polizeiwagen mit einer Vollbremsung vor dem Bahnhof hält, sitzt Tim im Gebüsch auf der anderen Straßenseite. Er filmt.

“Of all the environmental pollution that can be found in the city of Madrid, the most evident is light pollution, so much so that in our sky we can never see the Milky Way and hardly any stars. This overillumination is evident to the naked eye at a distance of more than 200 kms and produces a glow that can be seen with a medium-size telescope for more than 700 kms.”

“It is therefore very surprising, that at a time when the European Union is so careful with issues of environmental pollution, the Dept. of the Environment of the City Council of Madrid rules for illuminated signs, adopted a couple of years ago, changed the rules for pharmacy signs, to allow them to be replaced with much more powerful ones.

So much light emanates from the new crosses that the environment that surrounds each pharmacy, is permanently tinted a deep, vibrant and unnatural green color. Objectively speaking, one could say that the majority of the urban green spaces in our city, are more the result of erroneous illuminated sign rules than the commitment of our institutions to provide the city with places where you can be in contact with nature.

In addition to the obvious color change of the streets, the neighbors who live in the vicinity of 24 hour pharmacies, have watched impotently as every night their rooms become disturbing green places, in which life and the perception of what happens in them is altered, without being able to do anything to avoid it.

Without wanting to play down such a serious subject, but trying to approach it with a sense of humor, which never hurts, we carried out our installation Mutant weeds in which we recreated a not-too-distant future, in which a new and hardy species of photosensitive plant, grows in the asphalt around the pharmacies, nourished by the photosynthesis of its powerful “low” light.

To accomplish this mission, we acquired fluorescent sticks, which we gave the form of blades of grass and we placed them on the pavement, converting the reflections into small radioactive fields that produced a curious anticipation in the many citizens who walked the streets at those hours.”

Was die Farbe so alles kann, wenn sie aus der Dose raus kommt hat man hier ja schon öfters zu sehen bekommen. Dieses schöne Video von Montana Cans zeigt uns jetzt mal wie der Lack da reinkommt und das Teil zusammengeschaubt wird.

Carl Weston stellt uns Sean V vor, der seine Fotos dort macht, wo zwar Millionen Menschen täglich vorbei kommen, aber kaum einer Notiz von seiner Umgebung nimmt, da diese als schwarzes Etwas an einem vorbei rauscht. Die Rede ist von den Tunneln und Schächten der New Yorker U-Bahn. Allerdings scheint Sean V leider keine Website zu haben auf der man seine Bilder in Ruhe betrachten kann. Schade.

Trailer des Dokumentarfilms “Vigilante Vigilante” über Menschen die Graffiti übermalen bzw. übersprayen?! oder auch Sticker und Plakate entfernen. Der Film lässt beide Seiten zu Wort kommen und aufeinandertreffen. Sieht spannend aus. Leider ist der Trailer schon etwas älter und um den Film endlich fertig stellen zu können versuchen die Macher über Crowdfundig an das nötige Kapital zu kommen. Allzuviel fehlt ja nicht mehr. (via)
