Jason Powell hält alte Fotos in seine Bilder. Nicht irgendwelche Bilder, sondern solche, die die gleiche Szenerie zeigen wie seine Aufnahmen, nur halt ein paar Jahrzente früher. So gelingt es ihm ein “Zeitfenster” zu schaffen und einen Blick, direkt aus der Gegenwart, in die Vergangenheit zu werfen. Gefällt mir wirklich gut die Idee. Dir auch? Warum nicht selbst mal sowas versuchen? Die passende Flickr Gruppe hat Jason dafür schon mal angelegt.

Es hat ja nicht jeder Zeit um mal eben schnell nach Bristol zu fliegen, um dort Banksys aktuelle Ausstellung zu besuchen. Aber zum Glück gibt es ja Menschen die dort waren und ihre Bilder mit den Zuhausegebliebenen bei Flickr teilen.

Graffiti Girls zeigt, der Name lässt es vielleicht schon vermuten, mit Graffiti bemalte Girls. Nicht mehr, nicht weniger.

Banksy ist, durch seine Ausstellung in Bristol, im Moment mal wieder in aller Munde. Grund genug für die Times ihm ein paar Fragen zu stellen.

What is the difference between graffiti and vandalism?
Graffiti is only vandalism when it’s done very, very well.

These days, you are one of the richest, most famous and most successful artists in Britain. Does that make you feel good or bad?
I’m under no illusions that my “success” in the art world says a lot more about other artists than it says about me. Most of the other stuff is crap. It’s pretentious, pointless and doesn’t make any sense. Whereas I’m only like that at weekends.
